Right - twins incoming in <4 weeks (!). 1 kid aged 4 already.

Ideally we'd like to get three car seats in the back so Dr. Google has lead us to the Peugeot 5008 as the only car on the market with 3 seats / isofix on the back row. The fact that it's a 7 seater is a bonus but we probably won't need the extra 2 seats.

Anybody got any other recommendations? I'm assuming our 4 year old still needs one of those chunky car seats when sat in the middle seat which is ruling out 95% of the market here unless I am missing a trick. Obviously need a 500L+ boot for the moon buggy.

Any advice appreciated.

You need to find another Dr.

Touran
Grand Picasso / Picasso
S-Max
Sharan
Galaxy

All have 3 isofix in the middle row. There's probably a couple more, but that's from memory.

Bear in mind, isofix isn't the be all and end all. Plenty non isofix seats that fit equally securely using the three point belts. However I suspect width will be the main factor... three kiddie seats dude by side takes up a lot of space.

I had a Volvo XC70, kids both in Maxi Cosi seats and my four year old nephew could barely squeeze in the middle and that was without a car seat. And also worth noting, seats can get bigger as they get older and yes, four year old absolutely needs to be in his own, appropriate seat.

I'd say the S Max/Galaxy are great options.

If you prefer something estate-shaped, 2018-on Subaru Outback - rear bench is much wider than you think, prob close to E Class, will take three seats across and has a big boot. Not sure if it’s 3 or 2 Isofix points.

We bought a Discovery 4 when we had 3 children under 5, a great car, rarely used the 3rd row of full sized seats, the boot is enormous and would get everything in it we needed, although I appreciate they are now probably older than what you are after.

Hi All - appreciate the feedback.

Citron C5 Aircorss looks to be a very worthy contender - on the basis it has 3 separate seats in the back, but is smaller proportioned than the 5008 so better suited to the city.

Very pleased I asked!

We have 3 ourselves (now 14,10 and 7).

Currently have a VW Caddy maxi life as our youngest in a wheelchair (he can walk/transfer so just a 'normal' van rather than wheelchair adapted). It is great but more purposeful than stylish for sure! Specced the 2.0 DSG so acutllay quite nice to drive and tows my caterham no problem.

Prior to that we've had Citroen C4 grand picasso which was nice with all the toys but my favourite of the family wagons was our last one before the caddy - a VW touran r line. Nice to look at (for a people carrier), 3 full size seats in the rear with the 2 additional 'emergency' seats in the boot, and importantly it drove like a golf.

If We didnt need the van we would still have that for sure.

Read the manual. Be wary that as I understand you cannot use car seats with a support legin the middle seat of the C5 Aircross. That means if you intend to use clip in Isofix bases for your new twins they will go in seats on opposite sides of the car.

Similarly if you also intend to use an 25 or 36kg rear facing seats for your 4 year old you won't be able to use it in the middle as all of them have a support leg and lower tethers.
