Just after some sage advice since obviously ICE Cat S and EV Cat S are like apples and pears.

Has anyone bought a Cat S EV?
Any issues?

Anecdotally, some EVs are getting written off for very minor damage due to parts supply issues for some brands (eg. Tesla).

So could be a good buy if you don't expect to sell the car until even a non-cat version would be 'worthless'.

As always, you really need to know what the original damage was to make a call on a particular car.

Also, if you are buying the car as salvage, can you get the parts yourself at a reasonable cost to make it worthwhile?

Would Cat S include potential damage to the battery?

I recently bought a CAT S i3 rex 2015 model, from a private owner who had it repaired about 2 years ago. In my case I think the insurance assessors were over zealous, it could have just as easily been a CAT N judging by what was replaced.

This has worked in my favour since the car is fundamentally fine and the price was very good.

I have bought stuff from Copart before but this time I decided to pay a bit extra to get something that's already been repaired, mainly to save time.

Be careful at copart with EV’s. They can damage the battery’s just by lifting the car with the forklift was mentioned on another thread.

Thanks for all the replies.
Finally got to speak to the seller.
He bought it as a Cat S and is the 2nd owner.
Advert mentioned 1 owner - oh dear not very good start.
Asked about the car.
Soon realised that the seller was wanting a buyer who didn't ask many questions and wasn't clued up.
Walked away.

When buying a Cat N or Cat S (I personally would buy a cat N all day long but wouldn’t touch a Cat S) from a private buyer, one tip is to only buy from a buyer who’s owned it for over 1 year.
Why?
Because if they have owned it for a while they have likely ironed out any issues with the repair, this is what I have found.

I wouldn’t touch something that was sold on co part 2 months earlier and has been repaired without a long test , no better test than months of ownership and usage.

yes correct but the seller is in cloud cuckoo land over the price.
I'm willing to purchase and run it into the ground if the price is near what WBAC are saying.
