Best small auto for elderly driver. Lease
Discussion
I saw new suzuki swift hybrids with the cvt box for £169/£169 earlier this week, I'll see if I can find the deal again.
That deal seems to have gone but they are still cheap

I've always thought the Suzuki Ignis would be a great car for an older person. I understand they are pretty practical. In reality though given I am trying to convince an older person they need a new car at the moment, the primary reasons for choice would be automatic and driver assistance bit's and pieces. e.g. camera for reversing, driver alerts for pedestrians etc plus also I think faux SUV for ease of entry/exit. For them in particular they are getting less flexible so anything to help is a bonus I think.
Does she receive higher rate mobility allowance? If so, notability is the way forward, everything included for £71 a week, bargain
I sorted my gran out with a new Clio hybrid on Motability recently. She loves it. Yes it’s high spec but she’s got used to it now, straight forward auto box, electronic handbrake and Apple CarPlay and she’s golden. She upgraded from a 2005 Mazda 3 manual straight to it!

Wife is looking at getting a newer/new car.
She only does 6k a year.
Based on a vague set of requirements, which included
Must have 5 seats (legroom behind the driver if I drive it is important)
No bigger than an astra j
Quicker than a 1.6 astra J Auto. (That's not hard)
Not yellow or lurid in your face colours or styling
Nothing boring looking.
She likes blue.
A reversing camera would be nice.
Not a skoda or Dacia a clio or a corsa or a mokka
Less than 20K on clock or to buy.
Reliable. (I work in reliability and warranty in the truck product development and I haven't a clue how you'd gauge that accuraty)
Petrol
No.hybrids
No electrics.
Must be comfy on a long run. (What like the omega I had that you hated ?)
Added to my must not be
Bmw/mini/Mercedes (mental block)
And Must be
lots out there to look at and choose from.
At least a years warranty, the longer the better.
Must have cruise control.
So within 60 miles on autotrader there
We seem to have narrowed it down to the Peugeot 208
There are a few new ones in lurid colours but not the spec that has the reversing camera. To get the spec we'd want you are over budget.
So we are looking at 8 month to 2 year old ones this weekend.
There are 2 engines 98 bhp and 129 bhp. I'm.pushing for the later because....you dint need to ask.

If you want reliable then I would steer clear of the Peugeot 208. It has the 1.2 puretech engine which is one of the worst engines you can buy.
They burn oil and have a wet belt which degrades and blocks the oil pickup.
Just Google puretech, I am sure that will be enough to put you off.

The 1.2 208 has the wet belt & personally I'd avoid.She only does 6k a year.

Take a good look at the Kia Rio/Ceed/Hyundai 120/30 or the 1.5t Astra.
