Small runabout for parent
Discussion
Mother needs a smallish car for a runabout, lots of short journeys but not much mileage.
I have a budget between 7-10k and would like something 2016+ I am thinking along the lines of:
Fiesta
Polo
Yaris
But would consider something a bit bigger Focus/Golf/Ibiza.
Just needs to be auto and reliable…Pistonheads find me a bargain

I'd find it hard to look past a Yaris. If you service them at Toyota once a year, you've got manufacturer warranty until they're 10 years old - https://www.toyota.co.uk/owners/toyota-warranty

She does not want electric, although I think her journeys would make it work.
Thats a pity, as electric would suit her journey profile and be cheaper servicing. For a low mileage user the saving on fuel wouldn't be massive, but not having to replace oil, filters, brakes every year would save a packetThe best hybrid Yaris you can afford.
Absolutely bulletproof and very cheap to maintain in the long term with the hybrid system removing many of the common maintenance/fail points of typical ICE cars - no clutch, no complicated autobox or dual clutch nonsense, no starter, no alternator, no timing belts, no turbo, no dual mass flywheel, no particulate filter, 10 year warranty too.
Easy to drive, really economical and hold their value well too.

Should I be concerned that one is an import? Does the warranty apply?https://www.autotrader.co.uk/car-details/202405119...
