SQ5 plus tdi / S4 Avant / F-Pace S 380 (£20k)

Hi Ph,

I need something a bit more practical which can fit my 2 Huskies in the boot but still interesting, looking to spend around 20k.

For this I can get decent examples of all the above 2016/17 ish with around 88k miles, I know you always buy on condition etc but in general which would be safer bets? Or if you have any other suggestions id appreciate it

Had an S4 with one Doberman and I'm not sure it'd be the best fit for two Huskies

I have had a couple of A4 Avants and I don't think I would want to put 2 Huskies in one as they didn't have the biggest of boots. My mum had an F-Pace for 5 years though and that was a great load lugger, and I had a Collie and a Red Fox Lab in it once with plenty of room to spare so the Huskies would be comfortable. Can't comment on the Audi as I have never been in a Q5, but I would guess the boot is somewhere between the A4 and an A6 Avant going by their size which should be big enough I reckon.

2 Huskies would be cramped in the Audi's and just about comfortable in the F-pace I'd say.

A Superb 2.0TSI Sportline 280bhp estate would probably be the most accommodating, closely followed by an Insignia VXR.

Or going a fair bit older, a Legacy SpecB JDM.

Friends of ours have one and they have 2 Alaskan Malamutes (one of them is 62kg) and have a Discovery Sport which they describe as just about big enough.
Maybe try and find an S6 avant as the boot is huge, else a Volvo XC90.

We have an A6 Avant and the boot is quite a bit larger than an A4 Avant, I'd be looking at an S6 Avant for 2 huskies.
The boot on the Q5/SQ5 is smaller than the A6/S6 Avant.
Can't comment on the F Pace but doesn't the rear roof slope more than an estate...?

Thanks for your comments guys didnt realise just how small the boot was in a S4 avant so thats gone, the Huskies were ok for shorter Jouneys in our 68 X3 which has a similar boot size to the SQ5, added super estate 280 to the list as well

I went from B9 S4 to F11 530d and the bigger boot is so noticeable

The boot isn't massive on an SQ5 either to be honest - probably got a bit more height to it than an S4 but I'd check carefully!

Thanks all, im leaning towards F-pace now as I want to make sure they have enough room on the odd occasion we need to take them with us. Probably the V6 S 380 as I don't do massive miles
