I’m in the same boat. Thinking of getting one to daily but obvs engine age mileage and condition is unknown. Suppose can do a comp test if they would allow.

The cars seem extremely presentable and often have a rewire. Only concern is engine condition is it a 200k miles drift missile motor lol?

Did you buy one in the end or go and view?

I've been watching a few

I think they're pretty reputable - they have a FB page and Ebay presence and I haven't seen any negatives on either

However - these are tarted up cars because they've generally been built on the cheap - if they were built properly to begin with they wouldn't need re wire, retrim etc

Be aware their AC only blows cold and there is no heater - not the end of the world to retro fit but they don't tell you which niggles me - as does their relocating the battery in the pick up bed - which is a stupid idea

The super-cabs rarely have rear belts

Probably more "Thai idiosyncrasies" I'm unaware of - however try finding rot free pickups elsewhere

If the right one comes up, I intend to buy one

Yup vehicles built for Asia might get tiresome in the U.K. quickly.

I love Thailand, the culture, the people etc but they don’t do German or Swiss attention to detail in general.

I went to a car show in Bangkok a few years back and was amazed at either how well the cars were done, or how badly there was not much between.

They had this for sale, https://youtu.be/Uzy6G4Sao8E?si=ud9HIKAIG1e__E80 a yer or 2 back I fell in love and came so close. That is such a well done modified car, spot on.

I want one of those flat bottom boats, powered by a Toyota diesel welded to a pole biglaugh

No idea where I could use it, but bloody fun.

Been thinking about a little datsun pick up for some time, not sure these are the way to go though, would prefer something not modified, or bodged.

I can live with LHD, Europe might throw one up.

Also thinking about a Carlton van to go with the GSI, or Opel as they were not sold here. Plenty still around in Greece.

I bought a MK1 Hilux from them about 3 years ago, very easy to deal with and quick to get back to me etc.

Easy transactions and lots of help with sorting paperwork and registering in the UK etc. It came with the Thai log book and a few nice little Thai bits (period stickers, tax/registration documents etc).

Mine is pretty original bar a set of wheels and it had been lowered. Agree with above, ice cold AC and no heater but if you plan to use a Mk1 Hilux in cold/wet weather in the UK you are mad...!

The truck had indeed had a reasonable amount of work done by the vendor prior to sale, and I must say much of it was good. Rear section of chassis painted as well as inside the bed and it was done nicely. Re-trimmed bench seat and a new bed cover again done nicely. Mileage showing as very low and actually I can believe it, however cannot prove it as you would expect.

Some of the mechanical work wasn't great, we found flexi brake pipes that had joiners in them and it had some tatty wiring and it wasn't presented that well under the bonnet, however it was all very original and very solid with zero corrosion as they stated. Also both 3 point belts didn't work which was not great.

All in all, I would by again from FE Classics, but I would make sure I was happy with what I was getting and make sure you have a proper look over the actual truck you are buying.
