The 2013 onwards XJRs, are they worth considering vs a cheaper x350? I think the modern styling looks great, but how are they for reliability etc?

The x351 is fabulous, it's hard to believe only 7 years separates it from the X350 and the 5.0 is a much bigger leap over the 4.2 than the paper figures suggest too.

I've got a Supersport but the XJR is just more of the same, although I don't think the "sporty" addenda suit the X351 very well and I'd rather have either a Supersport or a 5.0 supercharged Autobiography if buying a later car.

The only criticism you'll ever get levelled at it is from the old boys who think a car has to look like a Series III to be a "proper Jaguar"

Reliability is great, servicing costs are low, parts are very reasonable, and they're absolutely brilliant. There probably isn't a 500bhp+ saloon from Europe that's less hassle to own and run.

They get a lot of love from Jaguar beards but the X350 feels very old now, most of them are getting tired, and they only really make sense to me as a £2k smoker

I do like the X350, especially the ride, but as above I wouldn't be spending a lot on one. I was lucky (or unlucky depending how you look at it...) to inherit one and it was a fantastic mile muncher. Did about 25k miles in 2 years but it did have 2 large bills at around £1100 and £1800 so don't expect to run on a shoestring if doing miles.

Haven't even sat in an X351 but it'll feel miles more modern- although I have read a few criticisms of the ride.
