Missing tyre kit
Discussion
Hello again. How does this sound. When they delivered my Ghibli the Maserati tyre repair kit was missing and replaced by a generic one. On the face of it no real issue. Except it did no fit in it's proper place out of the way under the boot floor. Just rattling about in the boot. This did not suit me so. I queried it, also thinking it may ha e been used to repair a puncture, ( I would want to know that )
Story I got is this. They quite often get delivered with the kit missing, but it's a long and protracted process to order a new one, ergo the generic one.
All these things make one wonder. Particularly in this case with the warrenty issue. Also I would have thought that as owners must use these kits quite regularly the dealers spares department would stock them? That said I will be getting the proper kit soon.

I suppose it's better than 'My Maserati was delivered without a tyre repair kit as the genuine ones are in short supply, I've had a puncture and now I'm stuck at the side of the road!'.Story I got is this. The tyre goo stuff expires after a couple of years (allegedly) and the previous owner may have baulked at Maserati's replacement price and just bought a generic one. Check the expire by date too see if it's a relatively new one that the dealer placed there on the cheap, or the old one left by the previous owner.

From all your posts about how bad your recent purchase experience has been, I'd just cancel the whole thing until you can find a car at a dealer that doesn't have these issues.
Yes, good advice but I do like the car. And in the final analysis the price was not bad ( eventually) for a near new 1320 miles on the clock GT Hybred. I was just firing out my recent experiences for those who might find it of value. Clearly not to everyone's liking. Regards.Ghibli said:

I'd be as peeved as you, but probably be more stroppy with the dealer from the start...as I've had poor experiences in the past.I had almost 6 months of trouble getting the 'full service history' of a AUC BMW from a dealer when BMW didn't want to pay out on a warranty claim (as they had no proof of the servicing being carried out on time). The supplying dealer had supposedly given it a service before sale as part of the AUC terms & conditions...but had neither stamped the book, or recorded it on their online systems.
I proposed that they'd not bothered and just reset the indicator on the car...but they insisted...and blamed it on a transition to a new system where not everything had transferred over correctly (didn't explain the stamp being missing from the service book though).
So my current opening gambit buying any car - dealer or private - is to assume nothing is quite as it seems until/unless they can prove it...or as you seem to have done, weigh up how much I really want this car over how much I'm willing to overlook
Again good advice. I have yet to walk away from a car deal with complete satisfaction and comfort. Since retirement 20 years ago I have had five Mercedes and two Maseraties. All new or near new. Every time there is a shuffle going on somewhere.
Some on here say its me. Perhaps I just don't like being lied to, or shuffled.

If this is from a main dealer approved-used model then you have every right to expect a Maserati branded kit.Story I got is this. They quite often get delivered with the kit missing, but it's a long and protracted process to order a new one, ergo the generic one.

I bought an approved-Cayenne a couple of years ago and it transpired a year later that it was supplied with non-Porsche locking wheel nuts and no key to undo them. Porsche did the right thing and paid for the nuts to be sawn off my a specialist as well as a set of Porsche locking wheel nuts..

Is it unreasonable to expect transparency and honesty.?
If a car is Registered as a September 23 Is it not reasonable to expect the warrenty to run from that date?
If a dealer says the service history is in the boot is it unreasonable to expect to find it there? When it is not there and you ask for it several times and get nothing. Is that unreasonable.
If a dealer tells you a car has a Ferrari engine when it doesn't and the General manager denies the lie until you produce the written proof of what his salesman wrote and he then ignores you. Is that unreasonable.
When a salesman tells you the road tax for a car is X and it turns out to be Y is that unreasonable.
When a salesman puts two expensive extras on your car and words the action in such a way you think he is being kind and providing them for free only for you to get charged for them. Is that unreasonable.
The list is longer than the above but you tell me which are the ones where I'm being unreasonable. You should stop trying to be a Troll you're not good at it.

Depending on how much of a car guy you are (your on PH) you should've known that engine has nothing to do with Ferrari.
They're the only things I'd say are down to you.
