OK.
I have been into cars all of my driving life. Not sure if it’s specifically the cars I’m into, or driving? I’ve had many different cars in my life, Jaguars, BMWs, Audis, Mercedes, ‘interesting’ Rovers, TVRs, to name but a few!
Anyway…
Last June I moved into rural East Midlands, on the Northants/Leics border.
The roads in my area include many badly kept, single track, gated roads and I often have need to pull off-road to let people pass.
My current car is an Audi A6/C6 Avant, LeMans edition. This, being lowered and with very stiff suspension is totally unsuited to the local roads.
It’s time to get a new daily drive and need some assistance to help my head rule my heart (for once!).
The car will probably be (but not necessarily):-
An SUV or estate.
3 (ish) litre V6 diesel
Between 2008 and 2012.
The following are ‘must’!
Reliable.
Good ground clearance.
Able to take some punishment from poor roads/off road use.
Be comfortable enough for a passenger with spinal problems.
Have enough interior space to take a standard door without imparing driving safety.
Not require a full engine-out for minor repairs.
Have minimum 5 seats/5 doors.

Looking for recommendations from personal experience and, hopefully, some ‘out-of-the-box’ suggestions!

Discovery 4.

You don’t have to take the engine out to fix stuff. You just have to take the body off.

Cayenne gen 2

I had the 4.1 diesel, fantastic, 3 litre diesel should be cheap now with so many people trading them for petrol / EV

Comfy, should be enough power, good interior and boot space.

Insurance may be high, service at Indy as OPC are not great

X5's can be had for sensible money at the moment

I bought a 2012 with 86k miles in sensible condition for £9k, It's generally been quite reliable for the last 12 month / 12k miles with a few age related things needing doing but nothing too major.
