Merc E-Class convertible and kids?!
Discussion
Posted on here a little while ago but the Merc section probably isn’t as visited as here - https://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&...
I’m on the lookout for my next car (having sold my Jaguar S-Type R) and have a load of potentials on my list. Boxes that need to be ticked are; auto, capable of 35mpg mixed driving, 4 seats, fun (but that’s very subjective).
Anyway, I’ve got a 2011 generation Merc E-Class cab on my list (the V6 diesel could do 35mpg and fun cos it’s a cab). But I’m trying to figure out rear seat space. How much of a squeeze would it be having my near six year sat behind me as the driver in his ISOFIX seat? Obviously I know I’d have to move the drivers seat forward but I have to do that in every car (I’m 6’6”).
Just wondering if any of you guys are E-Class cab owners and carry young kids around occasionally?

I'm a similar height to you. We had a E class cab of the same generation for a few years. Nothing could get behind me if I wanted to be comfortable. I was as near as makes no difference against the rear seat.
I also found I had to have quite a lot of rearward seat lean to enable my head to get below the roofline when the roof was down - which made it even less manageable.
That gen of E class (A207) is really a W204 C Class.
Funnily enough there is a similar thread running about the F13 BMW 6 series convertible, which has even more useless rear seats. A 4 series is better.
