Been thinking of getting rid of the Tesla M3 and switching back to petrol. Love the car but don’t get the same thrill from the engine noise, but LOVE the thrill from stamping the foot down every now and then.

Therefore have been thinking of getting either;

MB C43 Saloon (2020/21)
MB CLA35 (21)
Porsche Macan S (2020+)
BMW X4 M40i
Tesla MY? Left field!

Has anyone had any experience with the above, would be doing c8-10k a year, with a stretch between Birmingham to London once every two weeks - so don’t want anything that will drain the tank…. Too much.

Any thoughts appreciated or left field suggestions!

Max budget £45k

A few that spring to mind with decent poke but aren't too heavy on the fuel:

Audi SQ5
Jaguar F-Pace P400
BMW 340i
Maserati Ghibli 3.0 V6
Maserati Levante 3.0 V6

CLK-GTR

I think I'd go with the 340 out of that lot, or the C43.

Anything but another SUV.

Based on your reasoning for ditching the Model 3, why would you be considering a Model Y?

I'd probably lean to the Macan S if I could find a nice spec for the budget, however I'd expect the X4 to be easier to find with a respectable spec.

If it was my money then I'd go for a approved F-Pace SVR and smile ear to ear whilst driving it - Probably be still smiling whilst watching it be loaded up on to a recovery truck also, if confident in the approved used warranty.

If you need something the size of a Macan, then I highly recommend test driving one, they are a far more rewarding drive than any mid-sized family SUV has any business being! Porsche DNA is definitely present in all that they make!

At that money I'd be going full fat because the little you'll save in fuel will be edged out by depreciation.

A better overall option to the C43 imo is the E53:
