BMW X4 buying from independant help
Discussion
can anyone help - would you buy from an independant dealer? by the looks of it the dealer does not have a shop front so i am worried about aftercare. I am by no way a mechanic so i have my doubts

Not an issue.
Just make sure all services have been carried out. If you're worried about I going service you can go back to a dealer of your choice.
Thanks, is their an easy way of ensuring that the services have been carried out to a decent level?Just make sure all services have been carried out. If you're worried about I going service you can go back to a dealer of your choice.
also, i did not understad your point about going back to a dealer of my choice?
also, the dealer provide a 3 month engine and gearbox warrenty via someone called 'customer protect'. im just nervous about spending so much on what basically seems like a small step up from a private dealership
Check the service history details.
You can probably buy a warranty from BMW if you want to.
Most warranties from non franchised dealers are useless anyway.
I've had 6 different 2nd hand BMWs since 2007, and done around 200k miles in total. None of them have ever needed anything much other than routine maintenance.

I'm not sure why you'd buy from an independent when you can get a very similar deal from a franchised dealership and then have the benefit of a full 12 mth warranty.

Thanks, i would prefer to buy from a franchised dealer, the difference is the milage, and other basics like wheels, speicific colour (on the 2 later model versions you showed). my budget is 25K and need to hold out for one that can be purchased in budget. sorry everyone if i sound like a painhttps://www.autotrader.co.uk/car-details/202401085...

It's not as if the car/spec is hugely rare, nor is the mileage esp low. There'll be one along any minute, as they say. I'd deffo hold out for one from a franchised dealer with BMW warranty and breakdown cover.
Thats the thinking, i am fininding dealers are creeping their prices up ever so slightly and going towards the higher priced ones (similar year and spec) , the higher priced ones which seem to not be moving.so its like a stupid game that i cant play well, calling up and getting 'you called as this is the best one on the market, best price etc' and when i can demonstrate ones that are better priced and have sold the goal posts move again
i need to revise my tactics of how to interact and get a good deal
