bravest of the brave - how lucky/brave do you feel
Discussion
I was having a quick scootch around, as one does, where I was looking at 'what can I afford'... this, probably inevitably, moved on to 'man-maths' and through into let's just see what's stupidly expensive and needs balls of steel.
Without further ado then - bravery or stupidity needed?

That Aston looks expensive - unless vantages have risen dramatically you used to be able to get one with this sort of mileage in decent condition for mid £20’s let alone £28k.
I sold mine with a few issues for £21.5k if I remember rightly. The vet hadn’t enjoyed being sat idle during a big chunk of covid, infotainment system wasn’t firing up at all and had a battery drain within a few days despite a new battery. I had spent £2k with phoenix on the mechanicals to recommission it and a further £500 at another specialist before I realised I didn’t really have the time to commit to chasing faults down nor a desire to keep pouring good money after bad and cut my losses. Shame really as I’d had it 5 or so years and it had been largely faultless before it was laid up.

The seats of the Aston also look more worn than a 65k miles car should look.
Bargepole springs to mind.
Edited to add: The two adverts are very dissimilar to the tune of more than £140k?
oh yes - this isn't me looking for me, just looking for borage potential and things you should run a mile from. A little fun. Can you find something more potentially financially scary....Bargepole springs to mind.

Ypu'll also have between 5-8k for maintenance over the next 4-5 years.

At a glance the blue Aston looks great but the interior is tired and the wrap is probably hiding something, plus 9 owners!
Looks pricey for a private sale, with a wrap and the sport shift box. If I ever get an Aston, I want one which has been cherished like a baby, with a service file like War and Peace.

That Vantage is 10k too much, currently toying with moving my 40 thousand mile, manual, garage queen 2006 V8V on, and I'd be over the moon with a valuation of £28k
I'm yet to find a replacement but I'm expecting to be kicked in the teeth on a part/ex.
Agreed mate. I'm yet to find a replacement but I'm expecting to be kicked in the teeth on a part/ex.
So what’s on the replacement shortlist? It’s a tough act to follow, particularly if you are keeping at a similar price point.

I'd love to know how you get a brand new Ferrari Roma in Category N. An accident not bad enough to cause structural damage, but bad enough to make repairing a 200k car unfeasible.
Probably the potential costs for similar spec hire car whilst waiting for an out of stock part with no estimated availability. Shnozz said:

Budget has creeped up a little....the newer shape V8 Vantage is probably the favourite, but outside runners include 911 991 GTS, or V12 Vantage. It's been SORN since October, when I tax in next week and have a drive I might change my mind, but considering the state of the roads Hammond's DB9 from the latest Grand tour looks a better option.
