Next car suggestions?
Discussion
Hey all,
I hope this thread idea is okay?
I was wondering if you all could help with some suggestions on what to look at/what to avoid for my next car. I've been leasing for the past 7 years but the market has gone somewhat silly to the point it's rare you get good value for money whatsoever so I'm looking at PCPing my next car. If a bargain of a lease deal comes along I'll consider that too.
Ideally I want something less than 4 years old but the newer the better, less than 30,000 miles, and premium or sporty - preferably a bit of both. I wouldn't want to spend more than £650 a month, £2-3k deposit, 5-6k miles a year.
That type of money used to get you insane cars but those days seem to have gone, I'm in no major rush as my current lease has 6 months left.
I've been considering a 2-3 year old Jag F-type V6S, I know everyone jokes about JLR reliability but they don't seem to be too bad? Any other suggestions?
Thanks,
MR94

This lease deal came up as deal of the day on auto express.

Deposit is more than you want to pay but the monthlies are much lower.
Alternatively if you take a loan with someone like Tesco bank, your £650 a month would get you about £27k over 4 years. Add in your £3k deposit and that's plenty for a nice F type.
I'm fairly sure that PCP is always heavily in the dealers favour and that using it for a second hand car is not the best.

I think the V6 F Type is a great choice, it's also a good entertaining car that's reliable too:

I'd been in Boxsters/Caymans for a few years and thought I'd give an F-type a try as I really think they look the part (had one of the 6-cyl special editions with 380/400hp ?? for half a day from the local Jag dealer). tbh, it was disappointing. Lovely to look at, nice inside, but it felt huge compared with the Porsches, nowhere near as nimble and the gearbox was pedestrian vs the PDK in Porsche.
If you head into 2 seater territory, make sure you give the Boxster / Cayman a good look.

Jaguar F-Type V6s are awesome, but I'd only get one if I had a garage to keep it in. They are known to suffer from water ingress into the engine bay from vents in the bonnet, which can then cause other issues. I suppose you could always get a car cover, though they can be a bit of a faff.
That Alpine lease deal looks pretty good. With a PCP you'd be looking at more like a 2019 model
