A few months ago we ordered a new car for Mrs T, an EX30, due for delivery late March/early April

Since then we've sold a couple of our cars and decide to use the EX30 more so contacted Volvo to ask to change the PCP agreement - not borrowing any more, just upping the mileage and changing from 4 to 3 years so we didn't get hit by any penalties

We were more than surprised to be told the only way to do that is to cancel our order and re-order and have another 6+month wait....

Struggling to see the logic in that; with such a long lead-time it must be that peoples situations change so why the inflexibility and they've plenty of time to 'requalify' us - we don't even lose our deposit if we cancel so the only loser in this situation appears to be Volvo....

It does seem a bit odd at face value

What does the actual contract say?

Have you been corresponding by email or just a telephone conversation?

You could try elevating within the dealership if the salesperson isn't playing ball.

It's part of this new agency model - we order direct from Volvo and it get delivered to our local dealer; actually a really badly managed process overall but that's for another thread

We've spoken with both the dealer and Volvo though and computer says no

I would be inclined to cancel and buy something else if they are going to be like that about it
