Hi, I'm currently on the market for a cheap runabout estate and a mid sized van. I've a budget of 6k for both, I've my eye on 2 possible candidates for both, 2011 Toyota avensis 2.0d4d with 120k, 09 Toyota hi ace with 180k

I'm basically looking a bit of a discussion on both cars and possible alternatives I maybe haven't considered. Thanks

You'll struggle to get one car that's half decent for £6k, never mind two.

Get a £6k van and run it as a daily.

I did that for years. A T5.1 140hp 6 Speed LWB Transporter. I paid exactly £6k.

The market for cheao functional estates is a swamp right now.

If you've found one privately which you feel is OK to take a punt on, you might do OK, but dealers want serious money for sheds with issues
Yet WBAC or trade-in prices are rock bottom.

Just been having a nosey on autotrader and found this very cheap Citroen C5 2.2 HDi for only £575. Has an MOT until 14th Jan next year too. Would make a great shed estate!

That's either a bargain or a short cut to madness.

I have a 2012 VW caddy daily, I'm literally after a sub 3k estate, reliability is top of the list as it'll be covering galactic miles, the mid sized van is literally for carting 8x4 sized items about from time to time

Could you fit the 8x4 sized items in the estate car with the seats folded down, do without the midsized van, and spend £6k on one vehicle?

Unfashionable choice, but how about a Galaxy or something like that?

Can pick up a 2010/11 Passat, avensis, 320d for 2500, the rest on an old van, don't know where you're looking
