Is It Only Me?

I have to admit that where the X350 Jaguar is concerned I am a bit of an anorak . Even to the extent of turning my own car and suddenly tearing off in the opposite direction if I spot one in the adjacent lane . I have been admiring the car in the above link for some time and although its a pretty rare colour and in my opinion not its best I think its a wonderful thing . As regards buying the Car , I feel that I could confidently visit the Garage and know instinctively what I was looking at so I have little concerns in that regard. The thing is that as soon as I see several Owners on a car with an exceptional low mileage then I raise an eyebrow . Having owned Astons and Porsches , I know that in this sort of marketplace this several owner and low mileage situation is relatively commonplace . As regards Jaguars however , especially a 20 year old XJ , its much less found . Perhaps its the knowledge that down in Luton there is a bloke shaving thousands of miles from Leased Vehicles used as Taxis by the " Usual Lutonian Natives "which are then returned to the Leasing Companies
and then to the general public . £85 is the cost and after seeing this in practice it has left me completely cynical about mileages on secondhand vehicles .
I make no such accusations about the above vehicle , perhaps its just me ?

I'd be very surprised if all four previous owners lived in the luton area and all got the mileage clocked, the MOT history seems to consistently point to a very low mileage use case.
My suspicion is that the ownership of the car actually transferred between a company held by them and then upon retirement to the current owner rather than four distinct people. The early MOT certainly differ in that the owner at the time was less meticulous than the subsequent one. I can't imagine the type of person who owns a 4.2 V8 XJ is the sort to look after the car THIS well and then clock it.
I'd guess it's actually a three owner car, with the first being a dealership as a demonstrator, the second being the fellow who didn't want to spend money on tyres, and finally the company director who subsequently kept the car after they retired.

I don't think he meant picture of A drivers seat, more THE drivers seat.

It has those early (crap) Pirelli tyres on.
If the date code is somewhere in the 2000s, or possibly even original 03, it could be legit.
Not foolproof, but just part of the puzzle.
Yeah the P6000 weren't that great especially over broken surfaces . Easily cured by fitting FalkenIf the date code is somewhere in the 2000s, or possibly even original 03, it could be legit.

Four owners in 20 years wouldn't worry me with the mileage, which looks genuine. However the price would, utter madness for the least desirable colour out there ( subjective i know). Although values for good ones are starting to strengthen, I've seen far nicer combo's with low mileage, for less money.
This 50k miler, one family ownership looks very pretty?
