Hi all

I keep reading on here that the powershift gearboxes should be avoided.

Are they okay if serviced?

Car in question is a mondeo circa 2017 with the 2.0 TDCi

Thanks

older powershift from galaxy/smax are nothing but trouble now they are old and done a few miles (2010-2015 models) main thing is that there is no cheap way to rebuild them other than a full strip and rebuild and new clutches and actuators - which is a £3k plus bill if done properly with warranty.

focus and mondeo also having problems once older so its not just the heavy smax and galaxy.

After 2015/2016 Powershift is supposed to be much more robust but a Ford master tech I know says they are getting the newer post 2015 ones regularly coming in for replacement powershift box's.

At that age of car I'd expect it to be fine its when they are over 10 yrs or 100k plus that the problems will come up.
