Focus or Honda Civic
Discussion
I currently have a Jaguar XF which is proving to be very unreliable so im looking to get rid. I want something mid size, petrol and cheap to buy on a PCP and ultimately reliable. I would be looking at around a 20 plate and like the look of a Honda civic 1.0 or a ford focus 1.0 st line. However i keep hearing stories about eco boosts being unreliable. Does this just effect the older ones or are newer ecoboosts just as problematic.
So in summary which one would you go for?or any other alternatives to consider?

I myself looking for medium Sedan and was doing some reasearch. Apparently like ecoboom issue with ford 1.0 engines, civic 1.0 turbo engine is also plagued with shredding belt which eventually cause turbo/engine failure. 1.8 Civics are really bulletproof.

Civic for sure. My 3 were older (1 x mk6 and 2 x mk8 112k miles and 66k miles when sold) but they were really well built and other than the air con in both the mk8s going, absolutely nothing else went wrong. I had each of these for about 4 years from memory.
I also had a mk1 Focus with 70k miles at about 10 years old. The wipers didn't auto return and sometimes it was almost impossible to get it out of first gear. It was written off only 3 months or so into my ownership so not sure how reliable it would have been.
Not sure how relevant this is cos you're looking at newer cars but thought I'd contribute.
