Annoyed.

Brought a car last week from a main dealer.

Was told it had had 2 services ( 4 years old)

Got it home, checked the book, just the stamp for the service on collection day.

Contacted dealer, eventually got told its with the service dept.

Not heard anything since even though ive badgered every day, no response.

Have I been mis-sold? What else can I do?

Shouldn’t it have had 4 services if it is 4 years old?

You shouldn’t have bought it. I’d be looking to reject it.

Reject the car. Two things will happen

1) the service history will appear

2) they will offer additional warranty and some free servicing for next time.
The actual History, or a 'stamp' in a book that says it has been done ( when really no one knows)

Service every 2 years on these, I was told it had it when I brought it so took a main dealer at what they said.

Depending on the make I would have thought that any servicing records would be available on computer for them to print off and the service book in the car hasn’t been stamped.
Was it a main dealer too ?

Tried that, manufacturer app says history not logged, yes brought from a main dealer.

Sorry just read the post above mine.
So main dealer - I would email the service manager directly and cc the salesman that sold you the car.
Request formally the proof of both services ie as sold to you - and also say “ by return “.
If no reply within say a day then email the DP.
I think a tad early to start rejecting a car pending paperwork.

Renault.
Then I would suggest sending those emails as I said earlier.
I believe Renault also have an app for looking at online service history although that might of course be for the original first owner only.
Failing failure of email and assuming not too far from you I would drive down there and make a polite fuss.

I recently looked at a 2013 (I think it was! maybe 2015) Legacy estate at a Subaru Dealer. Cosmetically excellent , 70k miles, price ok ish
NO HISTORY AT ALL.
Offered with "full service" & "warranty"
Claimed they didn't know who had supplied it originally...
I made my excuses and left.

Why did you not check the history was in the book before you bought the car, or at least took it away?

When you buy a 1 owner, just out of warranty approved used from a main dealer with a 199 point check and the advert and dealer confirm it has history on the test drive you should be able to trust its as advertised/as youve been told by the sales staff.

Its missing 2 services, but ive been assured, theyve been assured by the previous owner it was done with MOT

I’m dubious dealers ever service cars, and they rarely do what they’re supposed to unless you catch them out. You’re basically paying for a stamp in the book, and you don’t even get that now!

There's load of people out there who believe the MOT is a complete service for a car....

I would defo be on them about this issue. FSH defo impacts price.

I appreciate its 4 years old so out of main warranty but I guess it was sold with warranty - so I would not be too worried.

But its defiantly worth less without the service history. Its literally one of the first questions any one buying a car will ask. They will not have taken the car in on PX without seeing the SH so they probably paid less themselves!

If you try and sell a car using one of the aggregators you have to take a pic of the SH and upload it. I know this as I literally just did it last week and had to get a copy of the digital service history to do this.

So whilst in reality its just a minor thing I think the OP should at least be pushing for something as he has not received what he was told it had. I think at the very least a service FOC. Given the costs to the dealer (prob sub £100 to do a service) I might even say 2 services FOC would be reasonable.

As for MOT at service time, I am always wary of the quality of oils used by most MOT stations. They almost always use off brand motor factor stuff which is "full OE spec mate" but in reality there is a reason why its 1/3 the price of branded oil. Given that oil is sloshing about for 2 years too.... hm.

Im still on the case, salesman is contact the group buyer when they are off 'sick leave' to try and get some copies of the alleged invoices at least.
