Have my first Santander lease vehicle coming this month. Some have made reference to being able to buy a vehicle at the end of the lease but from the paperwork I have it seems pretty adamant they it is not allowable.
Has anyone done it with Santander (ie, with a family member buying etc if you cannot buy direct)?
Thanks

I have had several leases over the last number of years and each time have been able to obtain a quote to buy at the end of lease, this is usually within the last 3 months of the agreement. On 2 occasions I have taken them up on the offer even though their terms stated no option to buy.

However if you are going into this with a view to buy then other options may have been better suited as with leasing they don't have to offer you a purchase price and well within their rights to refuse, even if they have offered it to someone else previously they could refuse you a quote for various reasons.

Not dealt with Sandander leasing so they may have a strict no purchase policy, the likes of VWFS, Arval and G2L have all given me quotes to buy previously.

Thanks.
No not going into this looking to buy. I’ve jumped on the Maxus EV deal which was too cheap to ignore really, and as a Chinese EV I probably will be waiting to get shot of it before the end of the lease, but was just curious as I was reading through the contract and they seemed to be over emphasising that the vehicle could not be bought under any circumstances.

Maybe just unique to Santander?

Had a Santander 123 lease a few years back (Volvo V90CC) and there wasn't an option to buy.

AFAIK Santander are the official/main finance provider for Volvo dealerships - I wonder if they have a no buy policy for lease contracts as they have a deal to supply returned lease cars to Volvo to resell through the dealer network?

I have an XC60 through Santander on a private lease and have noted the no-buy clause.
