Hi all,

After some rejig of finances the budget is now 15k for an auto suv..

The other half wants an BMW x1 x3/x5 or lr disco..
Any other ideas suggestions pls..

I had seen few lr disco of 2017 ish around 15 k mark.. While not sure why x1 are asking same price.

Is there something missing or lr are coming down in price?

Also any other suggestions pls, conditions now ulez suv and not older than 2016..

Thanks in advance smile happy new year
Edit : only one wife = other half

Sure there's 1 or 2 Discos M<15k with moon miles and a chocolate Ingenium engine. Not really comparable.

Potential alternative

I wouldn’t be brave enough for a Land Rover, even new

If the lr engines are that bad.. I was thinking to buy extra warranty or so as well...

In all honesty I haven’t a clue when it comes to Land Rover was very much tongue in cheek

TDV6 is fine, avoid anything with a 2.0d. insurance will also be toppy.

maybe something like this:

£15k nets you a nice X3.

Disco Sport's are fine if they are the earlier 2.2 TD4's - essentially a Freelander drivetrain. The later 2.0 cars as above I wouldn't touch with a barge pole.

Q5 again a decent option but interior is very dated compared to the above...which may/may not be a concern.

Less 'premium' but £15k gets you into a very nice Kuga.

Happy hunting!

Cheers,

Chris

Yes have x3 on our target for sure... But difficult to get 2017 2018 x3 under 15k.. Hunting will be difficult

Touareg is so much car for the money, I would have bought one if my budget was at your level, nice spec low owner cars are available.

FWIW, I have a 2016 Discovery Sport HSE, we bought it on 20,000 miles and it's now on 60,000.

Outside regular consumables I've had to replace the battery which is think isn't too bad.

I think it's only worth 13-15k now based on the brand price crash but I can't think of anything I would buy to replace it for the same money that does everything it can without having a car on the drive with an unknown history - feel like its better the devil you know.

Granted I am concerned about the engine but based on my experience so far it's been brilliant over 4 years and I'll just keep running it until the X545e or RRS p400e come into a price range im comfortable with.

Like the design of the qx.
But not sure of the reliability... Any idea or view on it pls..
Thanks
The reliability is good on these I have family members with both most (check with your local dealer) Nissan dealers can service them as can a good Indy.

I have family members with both versions & they're proving reliable, adding Carplay/android auto isn't cheap but worthwhile.
