After 6 years of daily driving a z4 coupe, Its time to admit its not actually practical and i want something slightly comfier.

Problem statement:
My driving consists of once a week trip to the office. 150 mile round trip. mostly motorway and a stretch of A road.
Rest of my driving through the week is generally very short 2/3 mile trips round town.

Space wise anything more that a 2 seat coupe would probably do but im not averse to overkill in terms of Estate/SUV as i may need to be lugging around house stuff in the near future but have a back up vehicle for this if need be.

I still have a yearning for something semi interesting coming from the z4c and a little bit of power for fun say 200bhp(ish), Handling not as important as dont get much B road fun anymore.

Idealy as modern as i can go for 15k budget, the z4c is 17 years old now and while its holding up well the little rattles and general "looseness" that comes with age has convinced me to finally change.

Im not sure on petrol/diesel, the motorway trip would be fine for diesel but concerned about the very short trips around town where even the z4 temp needle doesnt move much. Been having a look at phev's in that i could run almost entirely electric for the short journeys but take a bit of a hit on the motorway journeys MPG but would be using a granny charger as would lose any mpg savings installing a home charger.

Open to any and all suggestions

Renault 5gt turbo, or a cayenne turbo, R5 might be better around town and worth more than £11 by the time you're done with it (yes it rattles like an old car but that was factory fitted). smile
