I’m in the process of selling my uncles old car. He is looking for a luxury car for around £10k. The only requirement is it’s automatic and must have some gadgets. He’s not fussed about fuel type and it’s reasonable to tax, reasonable to maintain.

That will buy you a X350 or XJ358 shape Jaguar XJ. Avoid the 2.7TDV6 and go for the 3.0 if you want diesel, personally I'd pick the 3.0 v6 or 4.2 v8 petrol. Both are ULEZ compliant, and are well known engines with no real weakness. Service it well, drive it frequently, and the car will be surprisingly reliable for a luxury saloon.

There are few other choices that give you so much car and prestige for so little money. The added bonus is that the X350 shape is all Aluminium, so only really the subframes to worry about corrosion on.

Absolutely incredible that a leggy 13 year old diesel 5 series is selling for £10k. I would suggest waiting 3 months and see how much the prices fall by.

I thought that was an okay price. What would you consider?

Left field choice would be a Toyota Century, think that covers all the criteria.

About a million times more interesting than a diesel Superb.

This isn't true. They suffer plenty of corrosion, Aluminium corrodes just as well as steel the main difference is Aluminium corrosion isn't orange.

Mine had corrosion on the doors and significantly around the windscreen.

They certainly are a left field choice. A 3.6 petrol Superb would be good but it’s finding one.

They are very nice. I would imagine it’s a high maintenance cost.

Very nice but I would hate to see the fuel costs and maintenance costs. Plus the near £700 VED, I’m sure it’s a solid car but I can’t see him going for it.

I like the Honda Legend. Cheap reliable luxury car but not sure about this seller who is selling as private with a commercial name.
