Hi guys

I am new here so forgive me if I am not aware of some things.

Recently bought car without logbook just with old new keepers slip which I could use to tax vehicle at the post office. Seller said he bought car at auction and it came without logbook and if I fill v62 form and send it along with 'old' keepers slip dvla will issue me a new logbook but it might take few weeks.

Filled form and send it over few days ago but them read online it will probably bounce back to me as keepers slip it's invalid as its from old logbook.

Did HPI on car before it's all clear, no finance not stolen etc. Basically all clear. Came with 11 months MOT, service history etc.

I ve managed to reach registered keeper through documents (tax reminders, mot). He said he gave a car to finance company along with all documents (apparently with logbook as well) and confirmed the finance is clear. Also he said he will double check to make sure if he didn't left logbook with his documents at home and will let me know.

Not quite sure about the procedure now, can anyone advise me what could I do and approach it.

also how come registered keeper doesn't own the car anymore but he's still liable for everything like taxing it etc (for instance if someone get a parking ticket or drive without tax all penalty fees will be delivered to him as he is registered keeper.

Its all looks a bit mixed up.

Thanks in advance and yes I wouldn't do it again.

Form V62 is correct, they will contact the previous registered keeper and if no response you will become the new registered keeper and recieve a V5.

Sending the old new keeper supplement was pointless, but I doubt it will slow proceedings.
