30,000 annual miles - recommendations
Discussion
My commute to the office is a 130 mile round trip 2-3 times per week.
Throw in visits to clients my total annual mileage is about 30k.
The company policy is that cars should not be older than 6 years of age but it's not really enforced. Lease on current car is up in May so I need to begin looking, I may even terminate early as I'm not a fan of my current - Ford Kuga.
Budget is up to £20,000.
My thinking so far has been
5 series
E-Class
XF / XJ - is Jaguar reliability better than Range / Land Rover?
V60 / V90 - hear the infotainment is poor
Heated seats / cruise control / automatic / estate or saloon
Am I missing anything obvious?

Depends on the size and type of car required, do you need an exec car to keep up with the rest of the office car park?
I ask as back in the day we all had Audi A4's to cover c.30k miles a year, really nice cars but they were fairly basic for the budget we had. On my second time round I chose a MK7 Golf GTD with literally every option on the list for the same budget. Nice heated (real) leather seats, upgraded Dynaudio??? sound system, adaptive suspension etc etc made a lovely place to travel. The ride was better, the seats were comfier, the sound system was 100% better and it was faster than the usual Audi. It also had the benefit of being a reasonably hot hatch when the opportunity came.
I haven't looked for a while but there might be similar options from the class below?
Saying that a E220d is a lovely place to sit, it will just be older / higher milage.

What's your fuel situation with your company?
My usage pattern is similar, and can't ignore the running cost savings by going electric, so that is what I will be doing.
Odd question for a commute, surely? It's not like this is all office visits and reclaiming at 45p/mile, the office commute isn't expensable. My usage pattern is similar, and can't ignore the running cost savings by going electric, so that is what I will be doing.
But I'd agree with EV, whilst I wouldn't want to rely on JLR ICE cars for 30k/year, I'd happily do that in an iPace in the confidence that I can get an extended warranty and have a nice combination of comfort/power/refinement for my £20k

Thus asking "what's the fuel situation with your company". I work from home, office visits count as mileage. I used to do that kind of mileage and a Mercedes E350 cdi with the long range tank option fitted was the best mile muncher I owned.
Would do over 700 miles on a tank, plenty of poke and incredibly comfortable. Good reason why the E class is the backbone of the German taxi fleet as they are just built to do the miles.

If the 6 year rule isn't enforced then this is the correct car for 30k miles a year.

I had discounted EV but will look at that as I can charge at home and work pay for the charger to be fitted.
No mileage claim for commute to the office.
Mileage claimed back for client visits is the basic gov rate and then claim tax relief for the difference.
Had a golf previously, easy to be in but didn't love it enough.

I've gone E90 330d/F13 640d/GLC350d for this mileage in the past, and I've currently got a GLE400d to do around 25k miles a year in as well. They've all been good at covering miles in comfort for me.
However I do think that going for something with soft suspension and small wheels is the way forward though, because all those cars above have had pretty big wheels and pretty hard suspension to be fair.
