£20-£25k fun daily?

Looking for my next daily, step up from BMW 430d coupe. So not really wanting a 435, 440i or anything that is too similar. Also, unfortunately f82 M4 and f80 M3 are out of the question due to £4k+ insurance (22y/o). Few options I've looked at are:

-Porsche 997 (Ideally a C4S manual), may be pushing the budget a bit.
-C63 estate, 3rd gen. (is cooler than saloon/ coupe)
-f10 M6 or M5, insurance is a lot cheaper than M4.
-F-Type S

things like an S3, M140i or Golf R are a bit too boy racer for me, prefer something a bit different. Also looked at potentially C43 but not sure will feel as special as the others?

Looking for other suggestions!

At 22, how are your house savings coming along? :-)

Wrong time to take out finance, right time to put away and save.

haha good question! I'm soon to be selling my second house with my brother. flipped two properties, had a mortgage at 19!. The market done us well and luckily I've got a bit spare to spend the £20-£25k and still buy another house smile. I'll never take out finance, will be cash buy.

You’ve not said how many miles you do as it’s a daily
I’ve had an XFR and would not recommend it as a daily
Very heavy car and the feeling of speed isn’t too huge in the driving position. Then issues with qc.

Personally I’m a b58 fan and would say the usual spiel of a 240i with about 4/5k in mods (as the bug will bite) will tide you 3k left for petrol a year @ 25k allowance for your new car

Stinger GT is a decent shout!

Didn't realise they were hatchbacks either, more practical than I thought.

I was in a similar position and went for a 981 Cayman. That sort of money will get you a decent 2.7 boxster or cayman, huge fun, very useable and not too expensive to run.

My other halves mums neighbor has one (diesel varient I think) Looks great in the metal, and seems to have loads of room too. Also nice that you don't see many around.

Not a lot, I can get the train in to work. I probably average around 8k miles a year, as do a fair bit at weekends etc, driven to south of France and things which adds up as well. No too concerned on MPG just insurance and maintenance. A C63 scares me a bit on this front!

That sort of usage screams Cayman (or Boxster if you prefer to be able to lower the roof) to me. It's strikes the rare balance of being sporty enough to be fun on short trips but comfortable enough to not be a pain for long ones. You need to be cognizant of the various engine issues which affect the different engines but many cars will have been fixed with upgraded parts by now.

Yes seen that! think there is the one on Autotrader at £25k. Is a nice car, and a faster 0-60 than the LC500?

Little bit faster as it's lighter, the LC500 is a big GT - same footprint as a Range Rover hehe

You could also look at something like a Mustang maybe?

Another vote for Cayman / Boxster. Assuming 2 seats are enough, you'll struggle to have more fun at this budget.

For context, I run a Boxster as my second car (with an F30 330i as my daily drive). It's fun, more reliable than the 330i, carries luggage for a weekend away with 2 people. It's also great fun on track days and B road blasts.

With the budget you have there, it's either that or a Z4M if they're still around this price. The Coxster is less 'edgy' than the Z4M though in terms of handling.

I have had a look at some Mustangs, the 5.0 V8's are getting below the £25k mark now as well

Another vote for Cayman \ Boxster

With your 8k mileage and you mention driving in Europe I can heartily recommend a Boxster \ Cayman.

I hear what you're saying regarding the "usual" suspects regarding a B58 BMW or a Golf R / Hot hatch.

And the Porsche will "feel" way more special (dependant on spec).

Awesome. Always worth asking the question, as it could just save someone getting themselves into a debt cycle smile

It sounds like you’re looking for a daily, which for me screams Porsche 981.

Given what you've said, I'd go for a 997 C2 or sorted 996 C2 with a Hartech upgraded engine (see the 996 thread for inspiration).
Or the F-Type if neither suit.
