Very much a lurker here over recent months.

Just by chance I got an email from a local Renault dealership offering me the Renault Arkana Evolution for £313pm of 4 years with a £269 deposit.

I’m trying to get this down to £250pm with as little deposit as possible - but whilst I appreciate PCP isn’t well thought of, at what point is a PCP deal is a good one?

Do a cost of ownership analysis over 4 years for other options like PCH, bank loan, cash etc. Cheapest wins.

Also how long do you want to keep the car for?

If long term then pcp probably not for you

Every £20pm off the payment is £1000 more deposit (roughly) so to get to £250pm you’re going to stick in another £2750/3000.

Thanks for all your replies. I have started to pull together a spreadsheet for that along with other car options out there.

For the time being, it looks like I'll extend my existing lease.

Then to decide the next steps -

  • Lease a new car
  • PCP a new car
  • Buy a used car (up to £8k)
All fun and games beer
