Basics..
New job commute = 500 miles/week (2x 250 journeys)
No company car scheme in place.
£350/month fuel allowance.

Current car Hyundai i30 diesel. 70k miles. Paid off.

I fancy a model Y. Got a few quid in savings. Monthly fuel allowance would finance the difference between purchase price and savings.

Would you? Or just run the diesel into the ground?

What would you do??

I have a MYLR and I’d much rather drive the 250 miles twice a week in that than a Hyundai. It’s probably not the financially sensible option though rofl

If you want a new car buy one. If you don’t then keep the Hyundai and see how you feel in a few months.

I would work a few months into the role and make sure everything is good then make the call.

Similar problem I had, and it worked out cheaper for me to get a diesel and run it into the ground.

The depreciation of an EV is difficult to stomach

Stick with what you've got but if you fancy changing then get a nice diesel.

The MYLR will happily do that range.

You don't want the stress of a new job and a car that runs out of puff on the way home .
Keep the job and Diesel for a while before you decide.
