Anyone had any experience buying at Aston Barclay auctions as a member of the public?

Are these buyers fees plus VAT?

Do they add extras on top like BCA do with the assured check etc?

If anyone has any advice or experience at Aston Barclay, it would be appreciated.

Purchased many times at BCA and Mainheim (both before they turned anti private buyer) but no experience of Aston Barclay

Have a trade account with them but only tend to buy sub 24 month old stuff online which is quite risk free. I know a couple of independent dealers who source their stock from them and seem to do OK (one gets lots of decent stuff in the Hatfields sale).

Also worth checking the vendor will sell to non account holders as people like Motabilty won’t.

Update

Correct, motability won’t sell to the public, but most other vendors will.

In my 20’s I bought a few ex fleet cars from BCA, Vauxhall Cavalier 2.0 GLS, 2.0 CDX Vectra, Audi A4 and an E46 318i. They were all great cars and with the fees not been too bad back in the late 90’s / early 00’s, I made decent savings.

However since then with Auction fees rising and me now buying much newer cars, I haven’t purchased from Auction. As a private buyer are the savings really there.

Private buyer hasn’t been able to buy from BCA or Mainheim for about 10 years now.
