Car lease – Any ideas?

I ordered a Ford Puma on a business lease in September.

The delivery date has been pushed back 3 times now, but it’s not the end of the world. I received an update email last Monday to let me know the delivery date has been pushed back again and the car is now expected to be at the dealers on the 12th Feb.

However late on Friday afternoon I received another email advising me what the registration number of the car will be. It says it is a 73 plate so at least I now should be getting it before the 1st March, but is this normal?

I don’t understand how they can allocate a number to a car if they don’t have it yet. Is this something to do with hitting targets at the end of November and will the car still not arrive until Feb or is there a chance I’ll be getting a phone call on Monday to say the car is ready?

Any ideas?

I’ll probably ring the lease Co next week, just wondering if anybody has been in the same situation.

When I was getting my new car earlier in the year, I was tracking the ship as it made its way to the UK. I was able to see the allocated number plate some time around where it transited the Suez canal. It definitely seems to be normal that the car can be partially registered before even arriving in the country never mind the dealer
