My new motorbike was registered with the DVLA on the 3rd of November and I received the V5 a few days later.

As of today, my insurance company cannot find a record of the bike given it's reg number. Also can't enter the model in manually, because it's new and the insurers don't have that specific model number in the database. They told me my insurance is invalid until the correct model number can be entered.

I have tried a number of different insurance companies with no luck.

Has anyone been through something similar with either a car or bike? I'm at my wits end, because I legally can't take it out on the road!

For what it's worth, the bike's model according to the DVLA is an "MT-07 (MTN690)"

Are you advising them it is a yamaha MT07, not just an MT07?

Go to your nearest personal lines insurance brokers office and sit with them to get the details correct.

Yes, but it's none of the models on their list. They have

MT07
MT07 74 (ABS)
MT07 (MOTOCAGE)

But not MT07 (MTN690)

I don't think any of the insurers I've tried have updated their databases for a while.

Leaves me stuck without insurance so can't ride it!

Looks like you're going to have to move insurance companies then. Someone will have it listed and maybe if you speak with your company and tell them the name of other companies that have the bike on record. They might update theirs?

Are you perhaps overthinking this?

Is the MTN690 just an internal Yamaha designation, which means nothing to DVLA & insurers?

Do the insurers recognise your bike as a bog standard MY2023 MT-07?

Probably am overthinking it! But what's weird, is that none of the insurers can find my bike using the reg number more than 2 weeks after it was registered, I've told them it's a bog-standard MT-07 so that'll have to do
