E63 4m or Aston Rapide S or…?
Discussion
There are a few threads on the Rapide in the AM sub forum - well worth a read. I’ve gone from a non-s Rapide to a S212 E63, partially because we’re a family of 5, so it wasn’t an “all occasions” car and partially because I didn’t fall in love with it, like I had my previous 2 Astons.
If you like it (and many do) and you only need 2 rear seats it’s a cracking motor. I had one fault and consumables during my ownership, but I did bite the big bill (discs) - bespoke to Rapide and about £750 a corner to replace. That aside, rock solid, well built and pure luxury with heated / cooled seats and rear entertainment for the kids.
On to the Merc, it’s a great car, fast, practical and fun to drive. But given the choice, especially if you’ve not had an AM before, I hope you don’t need telling what to do!

So hoping to pull the pin on a rapid 4 door soon. £50k budget.
M5 too expensive to insure (like £6k), Merc a few grand less.
Don’t want an estate or an SUV.
Aston Martin Rapide keeps winking at me…
Thoughts on the above or any other ideas out there?
I've posted a few thoughts on the Rapide in various threads - I concur with the brief assessment above. I'm exposed to quite a few very nice cars, and the Rapide is still special. Can't believe they are the price they are - we're very lucky in the UK!M5 too expensive to insure (like £6k), Merc a few grand less.

Happy to answer any specific questions based on my 3.5 years/20k miles.
