Hello all, my first post here. Firstly I'm Luke, it's great to be on here finally as a member, but I could do with some experienced knowledge on pick up trucks.

First I'll explain my intentions with said truck. It will be used as my daily driver. I have my little weekend/show toy that takes alot of my time, and I've always had old bangers as daily drivers but a truck is something I've always wanted and I think it's time I had something a little nicer to drive every day.

Now, with my other car being so modified, I will want to do some customising to the truck, and lifting it on a lift kit/body lift will be something I will definitely want to do, 100%. I want that big jacked up beefy look.

Controversial I know, but I probably wouldn't do too much off roading in it, or any towing, maybe I will once I have one as I'll then have the means to do so, but currently it's not something that is screaming out to me.

I have a 15k budget, and I was pretty certain on an L200, but thought I would do some reading and seeing some very mixed reviews. I'm very interested to hear everyone's experiences and knowledge.

Thank you for your time smile

Luke.

There is a dedicated sub forum for Off Roading that might have more info on lift options etc for pickup trucks

You say you want something nicer to drive, well most of these pickups are pretty rough to drive, nowhere near what i would class as a nice drive.

A neighbour has recently bought one of these. Do the pick up thing properly.

Here's one that already comes with a lift kit.

Ford Ranger seems to be the choice in the midlands.

Couple of fairly recent threads on these, differing price points, such as

£15k will get you something Euro 6, possibly with sensible miles, but your options are limited, you're looking at L200/ Fiat equivalent (same car) or an Isuzu. Or something else but with higher miles.

Be aware that weight dependent you may become a commercial vehicle, on things like the Navara that can happen between trim levels, which impacts speed limits, as well as which insurers will take you (and your NCB).

I have a 2018 Navara that has been breathed on by Arctic Trucks. It's a great car - have done 30k miles in it in a couple of years including driving to Portugal and the Alps over the summer without missing a beat. Solely used for family purposes - Mountain Bikes, Dogs, Skis and it's great for that.

Looked at the Ranger, Amarok and Hilux but the right car came up at the right time and I have no regrets.

Only downside from my perspective is for motorway cruising a bigger engine would be preferred - I have the manual and it could really do with a 7th gear. 3.2 Ranger probably the pick for this.

Would definitely take a look at the Isuzu D Max too as it gets a rep from the Arctic Trucks guys.

Older navara snaps its chassis.

As per existing post they are pretty much all horribly bouncy.
