C63 w205 or F90 M5

Hi all, just after opinions from fellow petrol head’s opinions (first post so take easy it)

So like a lot of people, I would like to own a ‘special’ daily before it makes no sense financially / we’re all forced into EVs.

Main question I have- is a f90 m5 (non comp most likely) worth a 15-20k premium over a c63. Both have special v8s, but think the m5 is a big step up interior wise and 4wd means the power will be a lot more usable a lot more often. Anyone who’s ran both?

Haven’t had a rwd car with more than 200bhp so is it reasonable to be worried being able to enjoy the c63 often enough given the bad weather we have for many months a year.

Also, only quick car I’ve owned previously was a golf R mk7.5, was leased so I was never worried about something going pop due to always having warranty and plan to buy the super saloon manufacturer approved. Is it reasonable to expect similar running costs from both?

My M5C was batst mental, absolute loon of a car. 4WD as you say so it just puts the power down and goes.

C63 will be nowhere near it unless mapped.

Merc V8's sound the best. You'll be re-routing every trip to try and get a decent tunnel in!

Don't think about outright power, you'll never use it all on the roads. Drive both, and be honest with yourself in which gives the better experience.

I've not long sold a W205 C63S and in the wet it can be a bit manic if you are doing many leptons or accelerating briskly, but general driving it's a pussycat. When it's dry and you've got the hammer down it puts the power down very well and made a glorious sound (something I still miss).

Mine ran PS4S's I'm sure there's better/worse tyres out there.

Lots of motorway/DC commuting in a C63 can get tiresome. However they are a lot more fun than the M5 or AMG equivalent. Easily better VFM IMO.

I had the older 204 c63 and that struggled with traction unless dry, even then pulling out of a T junction would have the traction cutting in.
Plus side though that V8 sounds epic even when just pottering around it’s enjoyable.
A 205 with downpipes and a map will be a riot in the dry and the noise will still entertain when being cautious in the wet.

If you fancy something more liveable with but still want bags of performance and a V8, I can heartily recommend an Alpina B5. Easy to live with but spectacular performance at the same time. I've literally just done south of Spain to the Midlands in the last three days in mine.
