Nice small Diesel SUV, preferably under 20k

My folks are looking at changing their car, they want a small SUV, diesel is preferable as they aren’t so interested in EV or hybrid. A used car not brand new of course.

A good looking SUV with a premium badge would be nice,. Automatic, 4WD and if it came in under 20k they’d be happy … I know, not asking for much

Any ideas? Evoque ticks all of the boxes except reliability typical

Not sure Skoda is quite at premium badge level yet. Q3 is what I recommended my parents who wanted something similar, with a GLA worth a look. So of course they got an Evoque…

Vw Tiguan, is the more premium version of the skoda offerings.
I also think they can look great

VW is mid range not premium. It’s not always easy to fathom but fairly simple in VAG products

Have they had any trouble with the Evoque? Is it the ingenium 2.0?

Their old car is a VW CC and they’ve had quite a bit of bother with it, so I think VW is off the cards for how

I had a GLA and it was nice but I resented the rattly dash and plastic seats for the money.

20k isn't going to get you anything premium really, but maybe a clean XC60 or CX5?

you'd get a really well specced CX30 auto for that money though, I sat in one and just didn't like the seat, never even started it up, but they are nice cars for a "parent" lol.

Yes it is. No trouble thankfully but go with stats not anecdotes where n=1

I've just bought a Q5 its great tbh. SQ5 will be in your budget!

I looked at all the Japanese stuff, VW stuff and skoda. Audi seemed better value for money tbh.

I had half your budget and got this

Mini Countryman if you want smaller or BMW X1 on same platform but is bigger.

I showed them the Lexus, it’s a little bit quirky for their tastes. No doubt a very reliable motor though

I read it, but without any justification provided for having a diesel it seems an anti-social preference. So I suggested something better.
