Swap small sports car for something larger, would I regret?

Currently driving an MX5. I like it, but I've noticed more these days that more and more I'm pretty much forcing myself to drive it just for fun, I'm usually finding I need a purpose / point to driving somewhere nowadays. I work from home so I don't use it through the week, but I do still need a car to get about, and occasionally just for fun.
For some time now, I keep thinking about a larger and/or more luxurious car; something that can still potentially be a bit of fun when a few bends present themselves but one with a comfy seat, nice stereo, relatively refined/relaxing when you want, and maybe even *shock horror* an auto. However, to make up for extra weight and refinement, ideally, the car would have good dollops of power and torque. The obvious choice would seem to be a BMW coupe of some description.
I can't quite decide whether I should be entertaining a change such as this. There is a slight feeling that I might regret it, but then again, I could always get another if so. Has anyone ever made a similar move from something like a sports car to something bigger and more relaxing, like a big coupe / saloon, and did you find you enjoyed the change or did you regret it?
Should I hand in my PH card for even just thinking it?

Although you've already had one of the obvious BMW Coupe options, your Z4 Coupe. But a 6 cylinder 1 or 3 Series could be reasonable alternatives.
At the end of the day if you don't like what you get it'll only mean another change!
