2016 X5 or 2018 Touareg

Hi Guys. Just after a bit of advice.
Looking at the two cars above.
X5 with 85k for about £24000
Or for £35k a Touareg r line tech with 69k on but has 2 years warranty from the main dealership.

Any advice or pointers would be gratefully received

Drive them both.

I'd expect punchy depreciation on both. The BMW will likely be over 10 years old and >100k when you come to sell it which will make it a tough sell. But then it is cheaper.

I’ve just driven the beemer. Wasn’t overly impressed really. Bit wafty and seemed old fashioned inside

I love BMWs. But the Touareg is a no brainer.

Depends on which model of Touareg really. 3rd gen started in 2018 - so if it's one of them it'll feel miles more modern than the 2016 X5 which debuted in 2013

Why not compare a £35k X5 with the Touareg?

If the X5 felt like a barge the Touareg won't feel any less barge like.
X5 is known as a decent handling car for it's size and weight.

Just go for that then - nice car plus the bonus of warranty - speaking of warranty, have you tried Lexus? Up to 10 years warranty with them on any car, topped up by servicing at the main dealer.

Yeah Lexus RX450h with the balance of the 10 year warranty.

It's the old model (F15), replaced in 2019 with the (G05). The latter is more modern, but will be closer to 40k, so pushing up your budget.

Guys in the office, who had had both cars, prefer the BMW, and more practical if you need 7 seats. No one has ever bought a Toureg when it was time to hand the car back, and they tended to spend more time at the VW dealership. They are no longer on our car list.

With 24K you could get a nice low mileage Touareg with the same warranty.

Because it'll be the same.

It was introduced in 2013 and is based on the 5 Series from 2010.

So. I didn’t get the VW
I’ve seen a new shape x5 for 3 grand more. However it has 87k on it.
Is it worth the extra to get the new shape with high miles? Or previous model with less.
Stuck in a rut. I don’t buy cars often as you can probably tell

£38k sounds a lot for a car knocking on 100k miles.

That’s my worry. I’m also concerned that the previous generation f15 will have high miles

There will be little wrong with the car on 87k, it'll be great I'm sure - the worry is resale, once a car goes over 100k, the value falls through the floor - even though most cars are good for 200k and beyond these days, the buying public can't get their heads around this - low mileage is worse than high motorway miles!

Might be worth a look then. We won’t do many miles so it’ll even itself out eventually. Plus it’s the newer shape
