Is there a paypal scam doing the rounds at the mo?
Discussion
I have had a number of responses to my ad (both from here and from the 'trader)
Both from gmail accounts, that look relatively bona fide
but my radar is slighly up - see if you can tell why:
here is one (following me supplying a bunch of detail on the forum memberships, visible work on the car, generally good stuff etc. )
and :

then this:

& this:

Completemly different potential buyer - sends a similar intial mail - I get this one more - if he's up in scotland

might be bona-fide - i just wish they would SPEAK ON THE PHONE!
For clarity, neither of these guys (or Girl) have seen the car or spoken to me....
is Paypal the new Western Union?
or am i just paranoid?
is this the new way folk are working on buying cars, sight unseen & payment through Paypal?

great response through ads here then....
3 x pureplay scammers
1 x genuine interest but northern ireland, so logistical no go
1 x 'whats your best price?' followed by 'how many owners' (on the ad) 'anything wrong with it' (on the ad) where are you (on the ad)
where are all the genuine buyers???
(i know the answer to this)

I think you should try FB Marketplace or Gumtree. Far less scammers on those platforms….great response through ads here then....
