Volvo V70 R on copart!? Is it worth the hype?

Has anyone seen the rather tasty Volvo V70 R up for auction on copart? Always wanted one of these and it’s ticking all the boxes for a good project. Listed as running and driving etc with no major damage.

It has rare orange attacama interior, with the sleek black exterior.
I’ve heard so much about these but are they really worth the hype? I’ve driven a volvo T5 before is it more or less the same thing?
Considering some are selling for near £10,000, I think I may go for it and hopefully land a bargain. Any opinions on the car?

What hype?
There's no hype really... yes it's a quick Volvo estate with Brembos and AWD but they're not ground breakingly brilliant at anything that makes them stand out.
A nice package, fairly solid and enough power but not fast as such... their weight, AWD and good build somewhat numbs their 300bhp and given that's an auto, it's but numbed down even more.
They're also rather complex and old now, the two don't go together that well and if you're not skilled to DIY them they can be very dear to run... more so as and when the high profile issues rear their ugly head.
Cracked cylinder liners
Stripped transfer boxes and / or sleeves
Haldex pumps seized
DEM failure
Shocks are £3k and aftermarket has all but dried up
Calipers corrode
Racks are speed sensitive and very dear
Alloys are made of unobtanium
Then there's the glaring red flag of both air bags being deployed yet there looks like very little damage... air bags don't deploy when you bump into a Nissan Micra at 10mph so I'd be wary.
Granted if it was cheap and you had the skills and / or finances to make it right whilst praying the hit list above wasn't a full house... then maybe. As for these £10k ones, there's a lot of them... and a lot that have been on sale forever. Lovely things, with a manual box... but that one would be a brave purchase.
I'd rather have a manual T-5... 90% of the performance with a fraction of the running costs and potential to fail in spectacular fashion.

They're not that fast in a straight line and deeply unsatisfying to try and drive quickly on any decent sort of road, the ride is poor, the NVH is from the late 90s, they weren't very reliable or robust new let alone now, and they cost proper performance car money to tax and fuel. If you want a dynamically inert AWD car that is ok in a straight line Audi did it 100x better.
Total fanboy special, the V70 makes sense as a boring Mondeo+1 smoker diesel (where it's really very good) but it's nowhere near good enough to pretend to be any sort of performance car. The autos are particularly pathetic.

I picked one up recently as a cheap car to run around in and replacement to a 3.6 TDV8 L322
I actually quite like it - the 5 pot turbo makes a lovely noise, its very comfortable, quick enough, nice torque, very big and practical! And I think it looks kinda cool.
Of course, its not Audi RS6! But it raises a smile from those who "know"

He asked for opinions - I had one for a few years, spent a fortune making it right including replacing the shocks, every bush, top mounts, steering parts and then had a pro set it up (at great cost as the rear tire bar bolts were all seized) and yet it never felt composed on anything but silky smooth roads and there's not many if those in central Scotland .TX.
That's ultimately why, after many months and many pounds trying to make it as good it could be... I sold it. I just couldn't live with its irritations and sadly they cast a shadow over the bits if the car that were actually ok. But again, ok... not great...
But I digress...
