What Caterham?

Currently I have my Exige up for sale as I have a Caterham itch but I aren’t sure what model to go for?

I have driven a 270 years ago, loved it but I’d prefer something faster. However a problem with my Exige is that it is too quick for the road really. So with that I have discounted the 620 as well!

So realistically I am looking at 310/360 and 420. Not sure about the 310 with it “only” being a 1.6 but feel the smaller/ lighter engine might be a good match for the 7?

420 has a similar power/ton as my Exige but will the slab like aerodynamics allow me to have more “legal” fun?

Will mainly be road driving with the odd track day. I will drive it to the track. No trailer. Thinking £35k budget.

Other contenders have been an atom or 211 however I think I really need to itch the 7 itch!

I’ve had two Caterhams, the first was a 165bhp Roadsport (2005), it was just about perfect for the road. After five years I sold it and bought an R500, this turned out to be far too fast for the road and was just used on track.

I’ve been thinking about getting another Caterham and if I were to go again, I’d probably get something around 400bhp/ton, in the middle of what I had before.
