Best used car for 2 large dogs

Hi, I'm looking to find the best used car for daily driving that can comfortably fit my 2 large dogs (greyhounds). I currently drive a 2014 Renault Clio, but as you can imagine space is tight with one dog in the boot and one on the back seats.

I'm looking for something around the £6,000 mark (or £200pcm) preferably less than 10 years old, that's reliable and does decent mpg. I've been looking at estates and some SUVs, but would like to keep the yearly tax below £200.

Boot space is the biggest priority for me. Thanks in advance for any recommendations!

Unless they like jumping (always feels sorry for dogs clambering up into SUVs these days) then a big estate? What about the Skoda Superb?

I'm thinking van-based MPV. Berlingo, Doblo, Caddy, Kangoo, that kind of thing.

The dog breeders I know seem to either have these, Subarus, or Skoda estates. Fabia, Octavia or Superb depending on massiveness of dog in question.

Greyhounds can be really diva-ish about jumping up into SUVs. Some of them simply won't do it, and will give you that look until you repent and lift them in/out yourself.

A Honda with Magic seats. They give a really great safe space for woofs. Low sill so they just walk in with no jumping into the boot.

I've just picked up a megane estate, the boot is surprisingly big fior what it is, bigger than my mates a4 avant.
The 1.6dci is only £20 a year to tax too.

It's one of those cars I really don't want to like but you seem to get so much more car for your money because they aren't fashionable and it honestly ticks all the box's for me

As above, we have a megane estate mk3, our 68kg St bernard fits in fine and before she passed we had a retriever that shared the space with her. Plus points being low boot line so she can step in and out without any jumping. Flat boot floor so no lip.
1.5 dci is a hateful engine but does the job and in gt line spec has all the toys. Cheap to buy aswell and £30 a year tax. Averages high 30's round town.
Perfect dog car.

Oh and I found out this week if you put the seats down you can move the (optional) dog guard / net forwards towards the front seats creating a large secure space.

I have a Merc W211 estate for transporting a large dog and as well as the obvious of being spacious and comfortable, I like that it has a low window line so the can be lying on the boot floor and be able to see out the windows.

Agree with the others saying “Megane estate”. Seat Leon ST is also a good value choice.

Berlingos and Kangoos are OK if you just want a van with seats, but they’re not very refined compared to a regular estate car, and good condition low mileage ones are quite sought after (and therefore not cheap).

I have an Octavia mk2 estate and one male greyhound. The boot is comfortably large enough for two.

My point is that you shouldn’t think you need a 3 series/ 5 series sized estate; you’d be fine with an Octavia/golf/megane/auris/focus.

My tuppence is on a Skoda Superb.
We have malinois, big dog. Loads of room.

Ours is the Tour De France. 4 wheel drive, manual. Celtic Tuning remapped it to 195 bhp. 2014 £8k, 98k miles.

It's not refined but.......
