Considering a Q50/60 V6

Evening PH,

I picked up a 69 A7 50 TDI a month or so ago and to be honest am just not enjoying driving it. It's a nice looking thing but the dimwittedness of the gearbox combined with turbo lag and gruff engine isn't for me (honestly this sounds really rough and a lot louder than our E220d.)

Think im looking for something with the response of my old X3 M40i but with softer suspension and slightly improved mpg (was 23 average, 28-30 average would be fine, currently get about 43 from the A7.) Also fancy the HP route so I own the car down the line, the cars in this kind of bracket and under 25k on AT are 3/440i, Q50 3.5/3.0 Q60 3.0 and S4/5 2017 ish.

There's plenty online for the BMW and Audi and I've driven Both the engine and gearboxes from them both in different cars but theres not a lot of owner feedback for the Infinitis.

If anyone has had one or even both is there a huge difference between the 3.5 or 3.0 in terms of driving or real world MPG? Im leaning towards these as they are cheaper than the German equivalents by a good chunk and long term would work out cheaper in servicing and repairs if needed.

Few other ideas but I don't know much about them:

Stinger GT 3.3
XF V6 380 (drove a diesel variant ages ago which was decent)
Old (2016) E400

Any advice or suggestions appreciated,

The Q50h is better on fuel than the 3.0TT but the 3.0TT is cheaper to service than the 3.5h, the 3.5h will see between 28-35mpg around town if you drive it in the right way.

Personally I'd go for this 35h it makes more sense financially, one small downside to the 35h is that the boot is a bit smaller than the 3.0TT:

Now the 3.0TT is a weapon of a car, a bit of a sleeper & if you're happy with S4 levels of handling the this could well be the pick:

The XF S 380 is a very good steer they ride well & are a good drive & at the upper end of your budget would be the car that would at least get on the test drive list:

I'd also say take a good look at the Maserati Ghibli S:

Thanks ZX, economy is pretty decent from the H im surprised for a 350z engine

Will get the test drive list updated, bit scared of the Ghibli on potential bills but it is pretty.

If I decided to buy on the cheaper end (15-20k) and out of warranty would you say the Q50 is the safest bet? Wanting to have my cake and eat it too!

It would BUT if going for the h make sure you have a Nissan dealer that can service it or a good specialist, my friends & family are lucky in that they seem to have both.

In regards to them being a good bet, I'd say yes as I have family & friends that have most of the range (apart from the QX30) they're proving reliable but some are now trying to work out what they'll replace them with when the time comes.

The 2.0T's are Mercedes drivetrains so will be easier to get serviced if you don't have a Nissan dealer or good Indy near you, as parts & familiarity make them an easier option.

At 15-20k the 3.0TT is the pick followed by the 35h.

27 would be ok but low 20s might be a push, the Jag & S5 were sitting high 20s which I could get away with

Around town (SE/Central London) 22mpg on mixed runs you'll be in the high 20's/low 30's & on longer runs high 30-s & low 40's are possible if you drive like you're going to the MIL for the day
