Inspired by the high mileage thread, post ridiculously low mileage cars for the age.

A few very low mileage cars on autotrader. Here is one. 23 year old Merc SLK, 5k miles

This is a Hexagon Classics special, they seem to specialise in very expensive low-mileage cars. Obviously there's a market as they've been going for a while.
Quick search, here's a 2009 Bentley with 8,750 miles.

Edit: they've also got a 1961 Aston Martin DB4 Zagato with 4,500 miles on it, that must be a contender for the lowest annual mileage registered? 72.5 miles a year!

Edit: they've also got a 1961 Aston Martin DB4 Zagato with 4,500 miles on it, that must be a contender for the lowest annual mileage registered? 72.5 miles a year!

Pensioners that’s how it happensMy mum and dad would buy a new car and then it would sit in the garage and come out once or twice a week to go to the shop/Dr’s/hospital etc
They used to travel through the winter often spending three months in Australia and cruising there or back. The car would sit in the garage on a ctek whilst they were gone
It would also be religiously serviced every year at the main dealer
When they decided to replace their top of the range 10 year old Corsa .. it had 8k on the clock and still looked and smelt like a brand new car
They bought a fiat 500 which I inherited when they gave up driving it has 2k on the clock
They certainly weren’t unique and that was the pattern with most of their friends and my other elderly relatives
I cannot name the dealer on here, but he was, and is, in north Manchester. ‘Mileage’ he told me ‘ is the best single indicator of a good car’. He really did have and still does have some good stock. However, to respond to the post, very low mileage (as in 12000 mile Viva) may not be good, as a result of lack of use. Perishing hoses,cracked tyres ,things in general jammed, a long run would reveal potential problems. My conclusion is boring ( posts from fellow PH members on here of ‘ nothing new there , then ‘) and is that low mileage is often good but ultra low may not be so desirable, even if genuine
I've been on the look out for a 2018 BMW 440i. I've seen quite a few with 15-25k miles on them, which is low for the year and for the fact that a car like this would usually be hammering around on long motorway journeys. I can only surmise that the lack of use has been down to the covid lockdowns.

Not strictly true. I was doing (commuting) over 16,000 miles a year during (multiple) lockdowns. But everyone’s situation is different. soad said:

Well, yes, there will be people who were still racking up the miles, but I've seen an unusual number of the type of cars that would usually do big miles with unexpectedly low miles on them.Earthdweller said:

We used to have a customer who used an Audi A3 to collect her grandchild from school one day a week, a total of a 1 mile round-trip.
Used to get traded in for a new one every 3 years with less than 1k miles. I reckon it never got warm and out of 3rd gear.
Still, the lady had the money to swap it when the warranty ran out.
