Dog friendly premium car

My daughter has a nice M240i and is looking to change it for a car more suitable for the dog she now has.

Dog is medium/large breed ( Beaucheron)

Price up to £25k max

She likes a nice car and is not ready for the Kia etc route so premium brand

Doesn’t do a lot of miles these days

What would you all suggest?

My parents have a Volvo XC40 as a dog wagon. Decent size boot fits a labarador and spaniel easily but isn't too massive overall.

Seems a classier car than an X3 or small Merc etc. although these days I'd not want to write off the KIA or Hyundai SUVs because of the badges.

Good option, but having owned one and an E Class estate (and a dog) I'd recommend the latter as the wider load lip and bigger aperture combined with the less sloped rear and higher roof height really does make a far more useful vehicle - particularly handy with a dog.

I have an X5M which was bough t specifically to accommodate a large Weimaraner. Appreciate the budget won't stretch to the M, but an X5 is excellent for the dog with the split tailgate and very large boot.

That's fair enough and makes a lot of sense. Not as nice a place to spend time though, and certainly not as good to look at either. I always think "Taxi" when I see an E-Class estate.

As a dog owner myself I would suggest an estate is preferable to an SUV, especially as the pooch get older. You don’t specify any age or mileage but my suggestions would be either BMW 340 touring or even a 330 if you’d rather go a year newer. Or a Golf R estate, really is the do it all car at that budget if a bit of go is desired. Skoda Octavia vRS petrol also worth a look.

Yes to the space, not really to the premium, depending on who you talk to...

If they have a 240 I'd personally look at a 3 series estate, I was trying to offer something that isn't an SUV but almost is, if you get what I mean.
