MINI Roadster JCW or Porsche Boxster, max price 15-16k (ish)

Ok, hear me out. I know that 99% of people will be saying that this shouldn't even be a question, but id like to hear people's opinions and also info about boxsters as I know little about them.
I'm just in the process of selling my Kia Stinger GTS for something a bit cheaper and chuckable (the Stinger is lovely but a right lump!). I'm not looking for flat out speed/performance but rather more fun around small twisty roads.
As for requirements, its sort of going to be a second car as we have a family wagon, so it'll do local journeys but if i need to work on site i need the car to be happy with a 300 mile ish round trip once or twice a month.
This brings me on to the MINI. I've had a few R56 and F56 MINIs and i like their looks, interior and the fact that they are fun cars with a nice sound (JCW versions). I'm looking at a JCW roadster for about 12k with 35000 miles ish on it thats a 14 plate so its the more reliable N18 engine. Now for me i'd be more comfortable that this car will be relatively reliable and not cost the world to fix should anything go wrong in the next few years.
Then there's the Boxster. Would I be stupid not to consider one? As i said, straight speed im not fussed about but i want something fun and with a bit of character. I think im looking at max about 16k which looks like its getting me a 2011 ish plate at 70,000 miles, or a lower mileage 2008 ish. What year/model should i go for to play it safe? Also ideally a manual would be preferable.

I own a Boxster albeit a 986 so it's an earlier model than you are looking at, I've also owned Mini's and the wife currently has an 18 plate Countryman,
The Boxster is a far better experience over all if you can live with the impracticality of no back seats, the two boots are generally fairly generous in size. All I would say is Porsche maintenance cost are significantly higher, even using an independent specialist so something to consider but i'd still take a Boxster

That's pretty much what I was expecting to hear I think.

Price wise, i would expect it be a bit cheaper for that spec, for that money i would expect sport seats and maybe pasm or pse exhaust.

Mine’s the N18 too and so far no issues. The JCW Roadster would be even more enjoyable but if you can get a well-maintained Porsche I’d probably go down that route, not that I know much about them. In terms of looks the Cayman you linked to looks fantastic
