Best car for a one mile commute?
Discussion
Now working a mile away from home six days a week but with heavy files, laptop and an elderly dog to cart with me. Suspect I’m not doing my Golf GTD any favours - any motorised suggestions?
Clearly mpg / reliability / age / practicality unimportant but under £10k is - suggestions welcome

Easy - get an EV.... Leaf or something cheap.
And for the days that are nice - why not walk or take a bike?
Personally, twist-and-go scooter for me. A cheap 125 with a bit of luggage and a decent lock but so cheap you can replace it without worrying. And on the days that it is stolen or wont start, just walk.

An old 1.0 petrol Yaris?
This, I looked at buying a "cheap" EV for my gf's 5 mile commute to the station and I couldn't get the numbers to work even based on using our thirsty old petrol Accord Tourer.Your mpg won't be amazing but doing so little miles means it's completely irrelevant - a tank of fuel lasts absolutely ages.
