car/mpv/estate or anything with four wheels for large family

we are a family of 5 kids and two adults with two siberian huskies
really struggling to buy a car which is comfortable and practical enough for a long drive and not cost a fortune

we are thinking of travelling around Europe

You need a van.

VW Caravelle and Merc Viano are expensive.
Ford Transit, Hyundai H1
Vauxhall Vivaro came in some interesting versions (Life and Tour I think) and maybe even with a rooftop bed. There is a Renault variant of this as it was a collaboration.
Widely forgotten are the Fiat Dcudo/ Citroen Jumpy/ Peugeot models.

One size up is the Ducato which can be had as passanger versions with different wheelbases.
Renault Master, Vauxhall Combo.

Not sure how the huskies travel (in a crate ?) but this is saying something with a long wheel base to me.

The Hyundai mentioned above is a good shout, not sure on size difference between H1 and i800 ?

You'll still need a large roof rack or trailer for all your stuff.

I'd have thought the dogs would fill this space.
