Specifically petrol, 1.9/2.0.

Any owners/buyers advice greatfully received, as long as it’s not “buy a focus, theyre the same car”.

2.0 petrol is a Mazda engine and the best petrol 4 pot, chain driven so no belt to worry about.

Cars with sunroofs tend to start leaking into the cabin as the drain-holes get blocked - possibly worth avoiding but not many have sunroofs anyway.
Some earlier cars had "eco-friendly" seals around the windscreen and suffered a similar issue after some wearing, but I believe later cars were ok, certainly my 2011 car was fine.

R-design cars look nice, but the cloth/leather seats don't wear particularly well, the full leather tends to age much better if you can find one with it.
Some cars have bluetooth, but if you want to use it to stream music you could only do it with late 2011 cars or later.

I found my D3 to be reliable other than the occasional sensor needing replaced. It does share many parts with the Focus so easy to source and generally cheap to fix.

I had a C30 R Design 2012 . 2.5 5cyl turbo is a beautiful engine, bags of torque. Practical 0/10, huge doors, no boot space.

It’s a second car and for occasional mini adventures. No kids, so back seats aren’t really a concern.

Loving the styling of it and from what i can see so far theyre pretty well built.

I had the D5 and loved it. Excellent build quality and zero issues with mine.

Check what stereo option was chosen with car as only the top versions have connectivity to external devices and you cannot upgrade the head unit.

A customer has a 2.4 5 cylinder D5.

300 lb/ft and 0-60 in 7.3 seconds always struck me as excellent for its age.

Sounds brilliant too.
