Which Aston or Mclaren would you buy for 80k ?

Purpose = mainly weekend fun + 2 euro trips per year. No kids.

Is the Virage worth a punt due to how rare it is ?

Any input is greatly appreciated. My dailies include a 2020 RR Vogue SE + 2008 C63 AMG Estate.

Open to other suggestions.

Can’t comment on Mac’s as never owned.
Virage is rare but not unicorn not sure I see as particularly an investment.
For that budget and criteria I reckon a Vantage V12S ( Sportshift ) would tick the boxes nicely.
It’s an Aston so there will be niggles but with luck only minor and you aren’t using it daily anyway.
Secondary cat delete - you can also get the exhaust quieter switch for when you don’t want to annoy people too much on early departures.
Mine had the fairly rare lightweight seats option ( I specced from new ) - they do divide opinion but we always found them as comfortable as anything else we have owned.

Thanks - excellent insight. I'm not a fan of the Vantage due to size but will certainly give it some consideration.

Likewise - I think the DB11 is one of the most handsome cars to come from Aston for a long time

Both are good brands but both had (in the case of the 12C will be pretty much sorted) niggles, Mclaren wise it has to be the 12C get in contact with Thorney Motorsport to get one (or just buy 12C from them) of their warranties & you'll have a belter of a car.

I wouldn't consider a maclaren without a full warranty. Almost everything on them is proprietary to Mclaren and this makes them expensive to repair / replace.
As for the Aston, for me it has to be one of their V12s
The Gen 2 Vanquish linked above can probably be bettered by getting a slightly newer one.
The 8 spd cars are much better sellers so in more demand than the 6 spd.
Better performance and better fuel economy so it makes sense and £80k just about gets you into a decent one. Just look for a build after july-ish 2014 or later
599 is a good shout but I think you woukd struggle to get a good one fir £80k though obvs not impossible. They can bring some very heavy bills though and def more fragile than the Aston. I looked at a few myself and in their history files seeing invoices for £20k to £30k over the previous 2 to 3 years was unfortunately the norm so beware
550 another good shout and worth looking at but it needs to be a manual.
Given your other cars I think a nice DB9 could be a great grand tourer for those euro trips especially a volante but I don't think it would hold value as well as the Vanquish or DBS.
Personally I think the DBS has been overpriced of late and appears to be softening again but at least the option of a manual box is there if that's important but it is way behind the Vanquish in terms of development which would run rings around it.
The Vantage v12 is a sportier alternative but either gearbox version can be an acquired taste, not bad just need getting used to.

Sub £80k new Emira 3.5 V6 FE worth a look although long lead times now on new orders.

Drop dead looks and usable sports car overall great package at the money. Drove at length a couple of newly delivered demonstrators this week. Very impressive.
